Steel Commander Superbikes
Saturday also saw the return of Cameron Beaubier to the track with Tytlers Cycle Racing and an excellent result from Danilo Lewis and Team Brazil. Lewis, who races in both the Steel Commander Superbikes series and in Stock 1000, started the wet and drizzly race 1 from 17th position but had worked himself into 5th by lap 2 and into 4th by lap 4. The race would be red flagged with 2 laps to go, securing 4th for Lewis and 10th for J.D. Beach and his No. 95 Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR.
Conditions had dried for Sunday’s race 2 but the BMW riders did not seem to have the pace of their rivals on this day. Sean Dylan Kelly was the top finisher with his No. 40 EasyHealthPlans.com/TopPro Racing Team BMW M 1000 RR, passing the checkered flag in 5th. Cameron Beaubier finished 8th on his No. 40 Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW.
Stock 1000
Saturday’s 13-lap race 1 began with Jayson Uribe starting from the front row on his No. 360 OrangeCat Racing BMW M 1000 RR. His goal was to continue the success from the previous race weekend. Fellow BMW riders Andrew Lee on his No. 140 Motorsport Exotica BMW M 1000 RR and Nolan Lamkin on his No. 21 Visit Indiana/Tom Wood Powersports BMW S 1000 RR were one row behind.
The race would see Uribe grab second position and give chase to the leading rider while Lee began his race-long back and forth battle for third. At the end, it was Jayson Uribe finishing on the podium in 2nd, Andrew Lee in 4th, Nolan Lamkin in 6th, Danilo Lewis on his No. 94 Team Brazil M 1000 RR in 7th and Travis Wyman on the No. 10 OrangeCat Racing M 1000 RR in 10th.
Uribe would not be satisfied with 2nd however, and once again found himself chasing the leader right from the start of Sunday’s race 2. On Lap 4, Uribe got the break he needed, as the lead rider went off track, allowing Uribe to take the lead and never look back. By the end of the 13-lap race, Uribe had built a 9-second lead and easily took his 2nd win and 3rd podium finish in two race weekends.
