BMW Customer Racing Teams Victorious at VIRginia International Raceway; New BMW M4 GT4 Debuted to Open Weekend.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – June 19, 2022 . . . BMW Customer Racing teams enjoyed another strong weekend competing in Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2022 SRO Americas Championship at VIRginia International Raceway, in Alton, Va.
“Not only was there great racing all weekend, but we were pleased to be able to introduce the next BMW M4 GT4 racing car to our teams and to the race fans attending the event,” said Dan Lubin, BMW NA Motorsport Manager. “On Friday afternoon, BMW teams were invited to the launch of the car and that evening BMW competitors enjoyed a dinner at VIR’s Oak Tree Tavern. All-in-all, it was a very good weekend.”
In the TCX class, a showcase for the BMW M2 CS (Cup), it was Colin Garrett taking the Race 5 win in the No. 44 Rooster Hall Racing machine. On Sunday, Race 6 saw Jacob Rudd take the win in the No. 1 Fast Track Racing BMW M2 CS (Cup). The win was Ruud’s fourth of the season and he continues to lead the points standings.
GT4 America competition saw Tom Capizzi and John Capestro-Dubets score the Race 5  Pro/Am class win in the No. 52 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4. James Clay and Charlie Postins drove the No. 36 BimmerWorld Racing BMW M4 GT4 to the Am class victory. The BimmerWorld duo raced to the Round 6 Am class win on Sunday as well.
In GT World Challenge action for GT3 cars, Turner Motorsport recorded the team’s best weekend of the season with two second-place Pro class finishes by Michael Dinan and Robby Foley in the No. 96 BMW M4 GT3. Bill Auberlen and Chandler Hull raced the No. 94 BimmerWorld Racing BMW M4 GT3 to a runner-up finish in Pro/Am class in Race 6.
Round 7 and 8 of the 2022 SRO Americas Championship will be held at Watkins Glen International, on July 22 – 24.
